Hoover, Ala -  Steve Spurrier looked like a man that did not want to be on the stage at SEC Media Days Friday afternoon.

It was obvious that he was not on top of his game.

Only Spurrier and his Director of Football Operations know the real truth whether they intentionally left Tim Tebow off the preseason All-SEC first team.

Spurrier called it an honest mistake.

“We screwed it up pretty badly,” said Spurrier, who approved the ballot. “I’m embarrassed about it. I feel bad about it.”

Spurrier said he has apologized to Tebow and that the SEC has let him amend the ballot to add Tebow. The vote totals have been changed on the league website.

The former Florida coach and quarterback  called Tebow the best football player in the country.  He said Tebow and ex-Gator Danny Wuerffel might go down as the two best quarterbacks in college football history.

I wonder how much damage Steve Spurrier has done to his legacy in the swamp?

I scanned a few message boards to get the pulse of football fans and many are asking the question does the – Ole Ball Coach – still have what it takes to win big?

I don’t think it’s time for the legendary Heisman trophy winner to throw in the towel just yet, but it may be time for him to get off the golf course and get to work.
